Detroit Free Press - 12/5/2018

Dec. 05--Mission BBQ locations across the U.S. are honoring the country's World War II veterans with a free meal. On Friday, national Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the Maryland-based restaurant chain is saying thanks to the "Greatest Generation for their courage, service and sacrifice."

Mission BBQ has locations on Big Beaver Road in Troy and Haggerty Road in Northville. The chain is known for honoring soldiers, firefighters, police and first responders. Each day at noon, all Mission BBQ restaurants have a ceremony that includes a flag salute and playing of the national anthem.

Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. The chain's menu includes beef brisket, pulled pork, turkey, chicken and ribs (baby backs and St. Louis-style spare ribs). Side offerings include macaroni and cheese, green beans with bacon, slaw and fresh-cut fries.
