BRIEF: Veterans Services opens temporary office at Port Orange VFW

Feb. 09--Volusia County is temporarily offering a Veterans Service counselor in Port Orange in February and March.

The counselor will keep hours from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. at the VFW Post 3282. That's at 5810 S. Williamson Blvd., Port Orange.

Veterans and their dependents may schedule appointments there and at Volusia County's other service offices by calling 386-254-4646.

Veterans Services offices are open five days a week, same hours, at 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand; 107 E. Canal St., New Smyrna Beach; 775 Harley Strickland Blvd., Orange City; and 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach.

Counselors assist all former and current members of the Armed Forces and their dependents in preparing claims for compensation, hospitalization, vocational training and other benefits and privileges to which they are entitled.
