Wheelchair-Driven Pontoon Boat

DO-IT-YOURSELF-ENTRY --- PURPOSE: To enable a person who uses a wheelchair to operate a pontoon boat from the wheelchair. A used 28-foot pontoon boat was adapted by removing the existing captain’s seat from the operator’s position, enabling the chair to access the steering wheel. Additional space for maneuvering was gained by removing one of the bench seats. The entry to the boat was widened to accommodate the wheelchair. MATERIALS: Pontoon boat. TOOLS: Shop tools.
