The How Do You Feel? Language Kit, model LK-HDF, is a cognitive, language, and personal skills tutorial program designed for use by children with cognitive or communication disabilities. This unit helps students understand emotions. It contains two print books, each presenting two opposing emotions, such as happy or sad, excited or mad. The books are written with limited vocabulary and repetitive lines. Mayer-Johnson Picture Communication Symbols (Boardmaker; see entry) provide visual support. An interactive computer book, created with Classroom Suite by IntelliTools, combines text, pictures, speech and sound in an engaging presentation. Based on real-life scenarios, students are given the opportunity to explore how they might react in a variety of situations. A computer story uses digital photos to reinforce the concepts.
