DIY Space Sensory Bag

The DIY Space Sensory Bag is a mess-free, homemade sensory bag for children to explore their senses and expand their minds.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • cotton balls
  • pink and blue washable paint
  • water
  • glitter
  • vegetable/baby oil
  • ziplock bags
  • duct tape

Step Two: The child begins layering materials inside of a ziplock bag. Cotton balls, a bit of oil, a bit of water, glitter, and some paint.

Step Three: They continue this process of layering over and over again, (building about 6 layers).

Step Four: As the bag starts to fill with cotton balls, the water and oil will water them down making more room for more layers. After a couple of layers, the child can seal the bag and mix some of the materials together.

Step Five: Once the bag is completely full, the child can squeeze all the air out before sealing.

Step Six: Play. This space sensory bag is like a galaxy or a nebula that children can hold in their hands and squish.
