Stryker Evacuation Chair (Model 6254)

The Stryker Evacuation Chair (Model 6254) is an emergency evacuation chair designed to help individuals with mobility disabilities, walking disabilities, and lower extremity disabilities ascend and descend stairs during an emergency evacuation. This device has a patented Stair-TREAD™ tracks system that can grip rounded-edged steps with smooth surfaces. The track system reduces the rate of descent in proportion to the user’s weight, so only one assisting person is needed to help control the chair as it descends. There are also extendable lift handles at the head and foot ends that two or more assisting persons can use to lift the chair and the user over obstacles and up flights of stairs. The Stryker Evacuation Chair also features chest, lap and ankle safety straps for securing the user to the chair; a head support with strap for users with compromised head control; wheel locks to keep the chair stationary; and fold away foot supports for compact storage when not in use.
