The appointment was effective April 7.

"Being named the superintendent at SCI Dallas is like coming home," Ransom said. "I worked behind these gates for many years as a corrections officer. As superintendent, I have a commitment to the staff, the population and all that visit. The commitment is simple -- maintain a safe environment focus on a professional staff and provide a service to the inmate population focusing on reentry."

"Kevin is a great example of a dedicated and skilled corrections employee," Executive Deputy Secretary for Institutional Operations Tabb Bickell said. "He has honed his leadership skills over the years, and that combined with his expertise makes him excellent superintendent material."

He also worked as a lieutenant and captain for the Bureau of Community Corrections and as a criminal investigator with the DOC's Office of Special Investigations and Intelligence before being named deputy superintendent for centralized services at SCI Retreat in 2016.

He also has served as deputy superintendent for facility management at SCI Muncy, and he was named superintendent of SCI Waymart in February 2018.

Ransom was a parole agent with the PennsylvaniaBoard of Probation and Parole. Since 1992, he has served as a police officer for several Luzerne County police departments and continues to serve the Courtdale Borough Police Department.

Ransom is a member of the Luzerne County D.U.I. Task Force and is a former member of the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Drug Task Force.
