Dec. 2—BURLINGTON — A professional wrestling event in October raised more than $7,000.

After expenses, the first Burlington Brawl raised $7,250 for the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin, according to Taylor Wishau, Burlington Brawl president.

Veterans Outreach is a nonprofit that helps homeless and at-risk military veterans by providing services like housing, financial literacy and peer support.

"It was an absolute honor to partner with (VOW) for this event, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with them in future Burlington Brawl events," Wishau wrote in an email.

The Burlington Brawl featured WWE stars and members of the Netflix show "Wrestlers."

It was a Great Lakes Championship Wrestling event that took place at Karcher Middle School, 300 Wainwright Ave.

According to Wishau, about 650 people attended the event, which also raised $2,750 for Karcher Middle School concessions.

Wishau wrote that the event was a "tremendous success."

He plans to have more Burlington Brawl events to benefit different organizations, and Wishau said the goal for next year's wrestling event is to donate $10,000.

Wishau thanked attendees, sponsors, the Burlington Area School District and the GLCW.

"Your unwavering support and belief in our mission made this event possible, and we are forever grateful for your amazing contributions," Wishau wrote.
